In the small village of Mucuyché, Yucatán, twelve remarkable women are working together to share the beauty of their culture with the world. Through a unique project supported by VSocial, they offer travellers the chance to experience the traditions of hammock weaving and Yucatán cuisine first-hand. This initiative not only supports the local economy but also strengthens the role of women in a society traditionally led by men. The workshops and cultural encounters foster community, confidence and independence, creating a sustainable model for growth and empowerment.
This partnership allows the women to develop entrepreneurial skills, pass on their knowledge and invest in the future of their families and village. More than 450 people in the surrounding community benefit from the project, with all income flowing directly back into their lives—funding healthcare, education and improvements to local infrastructure. On this journey, you’ll witness first-hand how a small, passionate group of women is transforming their community, and you’ll return not only with lasting memories but with the sense that you have helped make a difference.
